Mantawi Festival was a grand cultural celebration that highlighted the rich heritage and
historical beginnings of Mandaue City.
It was named after the "Mantawi" vine, believed to have flourished along the shores of
Mandaue during the pre-colonial period.
The festival featured colorful street dancing, elaborate floats, and performances showcasing
local legends and traditions, fostering a sense of pride and unity among Mandauehanons.
In recent years, it has been replaced by the Panagtagbo Festival, which emphasizes religious
devotion and unity through Sinulog-inspired celebrations while maintaining Mandaue’s cultural identity.
